Good time to make a pilgrimage I reckon. You can avail of some pretty good mid week deals at the moment.
You could have the five course taster in Mint for Eur55 inc. 2 glasses of wine. Alternatively, the pre theatre in Chapter One is still hard to beat. One Pico have a set dinnr for Eur45 and also an excellent quality set lunch for 20 odd quid. I'm hearing really good reports about Pearl Brasserie at the moment aswell. You could also avail of the (relatively speaking) good value lunch in Guilbaud's or Thorntons. On top of all that, Bentley's is still one of the more sought after tables in town. If you fancy something a little more relaxed and informal, check out L'Gueuleton, The Pig's Ear or The Winding Stair. |

Well,
Made it to Dublin for one night last week and managed to check out pearl brassiere. have to say, exceptional service from Thomas who seems to be the manager? Good wine and menu suggestions. Barbera D'Asti 2006 Oddero €48 was v good, especially since i know little about italian wines. Boneless quail starter was very tasty, but polenta was a little dry herself had tempura prawns, which could have done with a kick, but prawns were v good veal loin was v tasty and tender and a joy thought her halibut could have been better, not sure if it was a tad overcooked, or combination of not been straight out of water! at this point i realised i am spoilt! Chocolate Cake with Apricot Jam? was tasty enough! anyway, good recommendation and great table. thanks |

178 before tip for two including sparkling water, poire digestif, coffees, shared dessert and the wine. there was a couple of really good extras thrown in for good meausure inlcuding lovely arrival drink, a thai broth in espresso cup to start, and a nice sorbet with cassis and sparkling wine which was really good.
I don't get out much so didn't mind! by the way, stayed in butlers townhouse and sorry, missed the mark. i can reheat heinz tomato soup at home thank you. |

Jesus Christ that's expensive... I could eat 3 courses at Bibendum in Chelsea at that price.
I hope it was very good. |

Pricey alright. Two of us paid the same as that for dinner & bottle of wine in Neven Maguires place for countless, and flawless, courses.

Hey everyone, first time post form a long time stalker, oh well.
Was in the new restaurant opened where La Maison de Gourmets stood, it's La Maison now. French chef. Anyway it was excellent and extremely good value. We shared the house pate starter; chicken liver, pork belly rillet and a chicken, pork and vegetable terrine, all very good. My main, andouilette with lyonnaise potatoes and whole grain mustard sauce was delicious, but probably not for everyone!! Her main, coq au vin with fresh tagliatelle was also excellent. Desserts were chocolate fondant and apple tart fine, again both excellent. We finished with two coffees (excellent double espresso). Total Eur68, with two glasses of nice wine. |

Welcome dallen, La Maison sounds great..and very good value too. It's one of only a handful of places in Ireland to hold a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
I've had a couple of great meals recently in Juniors on Bath Avenue. I've eaten there since day one and I reckon they're on top of their game at the moment. I'd a squab pigeon and beetroot salad followed by superb lamb rump there last week and it was as good a meal as I've had in a long time. The space is a bit cramped and I know it's not everyone's cuppa but for great food that's not too expensive it's hard to beat imho. |

Hey Uncle Pat, nice post. I'm a big Juniors fan too. They're doing brunch now at the weekends. And guess whos cooking for you - Temple Garner, the guy who owns Town Bar and Grill.
Great menu - all the usuals plus some quirkey dishes: corn dogs and super nachos. Pretty cheap too. |
