Ok, OK, so I'll tuck him in then!
I didn't realise it was a 'fortnight' BlueVal! Anyway, I have a cunning plan to find Kippo. I remembered his real name at 4am this morning, sad old git that I am. If I manage to track him down it'll cost you a plate of curried 'Brains 'n' bollocks' BV. Alph |

Crumbs BV, dinna go forgitting Streaky! He's a main man when it comes to food, second only to drink if I read the boy correctly!
He's the man who invited us all over to his crib for a post season nosh just before Izzet crashed last time. Now, I dont think the crash had anything to do with him having second thoughts but............. Also he's a Uni Prof which means that he has access to the spliffs that would be necessary to keep TUBI under sedation before the match. On the subject of us helping you for your kind assistance with this site, I've had a flash of inspiration....... I have given this some thought and have decided to offer my services doing a fine vintage burgundy tasing for you and your acolytes. All you need to do is provide and line up the wines and I'll do the rest. I have a foolproof way of telling the reds from the whites in a blind tasting. Believe me, you may laugh but it aint always easy"! I have just been invited to accompany the TK on his next Ireland Squad Training. Bearing in mind your kind (if rather rash) offer of a bed and some serious imbibing I am minded to accept. I'll give you dates in plenty of time to find plausible reasons for declining! Alph |

I have heard that the biggest Thai restaurant in the North/Country/Europe/World in being built by the side of the City of Manchester Stadium, is this true?
Agree with BlueStreak about the Saffon in the old Cheetham Town Hall, ate there last time I was in Manchester; Good value, BYO with no corkage and a great pint of Holts within easy reach afterwards. |

Oh come on Alph, weren't the Bloodaxes from Prestbury way, used to drink in the Dun Cow in Chelford and ride with the Cheshire Forest Hunt ? This is probably Daphne Bloodaxe's youngest. I'm sure they were fans of Altrincham.

Welcome back Bluealf, also M.Bloodaxe, comment ca va? (can't find the friggin sedilla on a PC keyboard!)
Alph, the estimable Erik and I have history, harking back to Captain Dunkirk's earlier vessels (the SS Batty Batt and SS Satisfaction and SS Main Aim) of which he was First Mate. He's more Mancunian than Chelford - a Boggartholecluffian if I mind rightly. His appearance calls to mind the gastro-occasion at Whitstable where we paid for a large though less than satisfactory repast by the simple expedient of handing over the previous diner's tip! Those were the days. |

BTW the roadtrip to Kiryat Eliezer, home ground of Maccabi Haifa and somewhat ironically named as the 'Mecca' of Israeli football is a rare old treat. We're talking the type of geographic variances whereby if you are travelling from the south it is possible to be on a beach in the morning basking in 80 degree heat and then skiing on the snow caps of Mt. Hermon a couple of driving hours later - pretty remarkable.
For the forkers there are the delights of the Yemenite diners with their crunchy meat kibbehs and sweet mint teas and for the corkers some lively hospitality at the Carmel vinyards. There you go; footie, scoff and plonk all sitting easily with each other in the same post. This must be our long lost spiritual home. I remian Berkozex - The Whicker man. |

As the esteemed FE Smith put it so succinctly when the presiding judge complained that he was none the wiser after 2 hours of Smith's questioning of the witness, ' Indeed not your honour, but you are better informed'.

The original Erik was a Dane who migrated to the North of England, killed quite a few people, tykes, barcodes and his brothers mostly. Not to be confused with Erik or indeed Eric the Red; or Eric Morecambe, he was killing people on our side of the Pennines. |

I can add a bit to that - the original Eric Bloodaxe was briefly king of Norway (son of Harald Fairhair - great names those Vikings had) before they got tired of his ways and gave him the boot. He ended up as king of York (Yorvik as it then was) before coming to a suitably grim end. Must have been a Lids fan to judge by his record.
Anyone follow up the link I posted? The sheer arrogance and effrontery of the rags and other big clubs gets worse by the day if possible. Bad news from the ressies on Monday btw, they only managed a 1-1 draw with Wolfs in a very poor game. Jon Macken scored a really good goal then took it upon himself to take a pen (instead of BWP) and missed it. |
