Kitchen Equipment

Wnt to buy a new cooker and I really like the look of the Rangemaster 110 (the one with double ovens , grill and storage drawer). Has anybody any experience of cooking on one or can you recommend a good cooker suitable for some (hopefully) heavy duty cooking?

Thanks!

I'd love to have the space for a full range cooker.
For heavy duty domestic purposes the Rangemaster is probablyas good as it gets.
Don't be gulled into buying the Smeg, they're posy but a bit naff and anyhow the taps get hot.

For anyone who doesn't need/can't afford/can't accommodate/can't live with a range I recommend my setup which I love viz; De Dietrich 5-burner hob - cast iron pan stands are a must.
De Dietrich oven with cool touch door, slef-cleaning device and electric spit.

I'd love to have my old blacky-black vintage Garland star-burner back from when I had the caff. The moron who came after me threw it out, along with the big espresso machine - vandal!"

I have a Lacanche and I think it is fantastic. They have several different types, depending on what you require. Campbell & Cook in Dublin are agents. You can see them there.

Cheers Rasher - they look beautiful. Are they dual fuel or can you get all electric? Only problem is the depth - my alcove is only 550 deep , the rangemaster is 600 deep and these are 650!!! I foresee lots of bruised ankles!:o

As far as I know, you can have any combination you specify. I have one gas and one electric oven in mine.

I really want the Food Fairy to bring me the salamander one day !

cheers rasher! I 'm hoping to get keys of new house next month so if you could arrange for then that would be great.

Ps do you think asking for fridge, freezer and microwave would be too much?;)

Blenders and juicers

Postby Ernie Whalley » Mon Aug 30, 2004 7:31 am

Anyone got any esperience with either of the above?

The L'Equip juicer from juicers.com looks the biz. At least my daughter swears by hers.

What's the best blender?

Keep it simple

Postby M.A.Careme » Tue Aug 31, 2004 7:44 pm

I don't know about all the nice sounding cookers but always bear in mind that the best equipment is simple . Think tough , solid and clean no small parts.
and the pots are far more important so maybe thats were the money should go.

The best sports cars are also the most simple. Its you who will be cooking not the cooker .

I agree M. A, it is not just the tools, but I would describe the Lacanche as exactly that - simple. What I love about them is that you can get very consistant temperatures, from extremely cool to hot enough to stir fry, not stir-steam, as is often the case.

PC - they are not particularly cheap, but they cost less than an AGA.
