Okay, time to fess up.
For the past couple of months I've been involved with commissioning the food and drink section of a new lifestyle magazine to be published with the Irish Edition of 'The Sunday Times'.

The project has now been given the green light and we should be launching on 22nd Jan 2012.

I will be Restaurant Critic - as a mate put it "A.A.Gill Lite".

My good buddy Martin Moran MW will be writing a wine column and I will be organising and holding the weekly tasting, with comments by Martin and myself.

Irish MasterChef winner Mary Carney will contribute the cookery column.

The Food section will feature a few contributors, among them Aoife Carrigy who was my deputy at Food & Wine Magazine.

The layouts look very clean and stylish.

Overall I'm very excited by the project and at the minute I'm up to my tonsils working on the first issue.

Nice.
Well done.

I've always had a soft spot for Aoife.

The very best of luck and go get em.

Best of luck with the new venture Ernie. I don't think it will be enough to tempt me back into buying a Sunday paper but I'll look out for the back issues round my sister's house. I always liked Martin Moran on Food and Wine, he had an obvious passion for the subject coupled with a willingness to go beyond the cliche and the consensus of much wine writing.

Congrats Ernie; it sounds like it'll be a good read.

Will it be published once a month, like the Observer's food supplement?
