Alexis is 5!

Alexis is 5!

Postby unclepat » Wed Feb 15, 2012 1:53 pm

To celebrate our 5th birthday at the end of this month, we will be hosting a special dinner on Monday 5th March. The menu will be a 5 course tasting designed and cooked by Ireland's Chef of The Year 2011, Mickael Viljanen assisted by Alan and the rest of the kitchen team at Alexis.
We will be finaising the menu, pricing, wine pairings etc this weekend and I'll keep everyone posted. Numbers will be limited so I will get the info on FnC before anywhere else.
Very excited about working with Mickael - I think most people know how highly I rate him at this stage!

A birthday party - what a brilliant idea! When will you take bookings? I think I'll tell the boss we are heading to the Monday night jazz at the Kingston.... and give him a surprise!

Apologies for the delay getting back..I haven't been able to get into the site all week for some reason.

The anniversary dinner has taken shape. It will kick off with apéritifs and canapés at 7.30pm to give people a chance to mingle and we'll seat everyone for 8pm. Numbers are limited and tables will be communal with a mixture of customers, chefs, restauranteurs & food writers/bloggers. This should make for a great atmosphere and lots of craic.

The dinner itself will consist of a 5 course tasting menu with matching biodynamic wines and will be followed by petit fours and coffee hopefully made by Irish Barista Champion Colin Harmon of 3FE. The evening will cost €80 per person.

I'm really excited by the menu Mickael has put together and superb wines we have to match. We stuck it up on twitter and facebook last night and it is filling up very fast so if you're interested I'd advise not delaying. Give us a call on 01 2808872 or email bookings@alexis.ie.

It was a fantastic night, 60 people - 5 courses of innovative, exciting cooking matched with interesting wines..rounded off with coffee made by Irish Barista Champ Colin Harmon and his team from 3FE. The atmosphere was fantastic and it was great way to celebrate our birthday. Cut and paste of the menu below:

Canapes & Bellavista Franciacorta Cuvee Brut NV

Home made breads, hand churned butter, organic cold pressed Irish rapeseed oil

Duck Hearts
Jerusalem artichoke, hazelnut, herb stems, sorrel
Domaine Richaud Cote Du Rhone 2007

Ray Wing
Horseradish, brown shrimp, smoked eel sabayon, brown butter, cucumber, shemiji
Raphael Palacios Loro do Bolo, Godello, Galicia 2009

Sika Deer
Loin & shoulder, beetroot, truffle, celeriac & brown milk solids, bone marrow, liquorice
Claus Preisinger Blaufrankish, Burgenland 2009

Rhubarb
Celery, rose, dill

Chocolate
Coffee, salt caramel
Romaneria 10 Year Old Tawny Port

Coffee & Petit Fours
Balmaadi Set; Pulped Natural, Biodynamic, India (Current Crop)
A single espresso and traditional cappuccino served side-by-side

I know I've said it lots of times before but Mickael's cooking is the most innovative and technically brilliant that I've ever tasted in Ireland and I can't wait for The Greenhouse to open later this month.

Ha! Amazing how many people saw it. I'm getting some stick from people for admitting to being a Leeds United fan!
